Be an Advocate!

Why would I want to advocate for others?

When you advocate for others, you represent the needs and hopes of people to develop and make change in our South Los Angeles community.  This doesn’t just help the people in need, it improves our entire community.

Advocacy is just one more way you can make a difference for Black women and girls.  By inspiring your elected officials, you can take action to help women of color make their own reproductive right choices and demand healthier food options in their community.

You can sign online petitions, help with phone banking, join on advocacy conference calls, and use other advocacy tools to spread the mission of Black Women for Wellness. Take action and see how you can make a difference!

Advocacy Toolkit - Resource Center

Black Women for Wellness is constructing its Advocacy Toolkit.  We offer training sessions throughout the year to ensure you know our messaging and outreach materials.

Remember:  In a 2-hour speech, people will remember a 2-minute story.  Your personal story about the issues that affect us in our South Los Angeles community is what will inspire your elected officials to take action, so make sure it is the focus of all of your communications.
