Volunteer Drive for Black Women for Wellness

Women and men are encouraged to apply; we are seeking those working to improve the health status of African American and Black women.

Skills Needed:  We are seeking those that can:
  • Write compelling articles for our new BWWLA.org Website
  • Help with fundraising activities: telephone calls, letter writing, follow-ups, idea generation and follow-through
  • Grant writing
  • Marketing of Black Women for Wellness throughout the greater Los Angeles area
  • Provide accurate data entry in numerous sources (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, Constant Contact)
  • Tabling at community events and functions
  • Developing, planning, and organizing calendar events in support of our mission
  • Create and organize vast photographic library
Who We Are:  Black Women for Wellness is a nonprofit corporation under IRS's Section 501 (c) (3) Revenue Codeformed in 1994, committed to healing, educating, and supporting Black Women; women of African descent, whether born in the United States, in the Caribbean, Europe, on the continent of Africa or in the Pacific Islands.

Our Mission:  Black Women for Wellness is committed to healing, educating, inspiring, and supporting Black women, so we may tap our personal power to enhance and improve our health and well being.

A Sampling of Black Women for Wellness' Programs:

Sisters @ Eight offers an opportunity for communication and networking among service providers and community members who provide (and are in search of) culturally competent services to the Black community of Los Angeles

Sisters in Motion encourages health and fitness through various offerings including belly dance classes, Saturday morning walks, and participation in the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Race for the Cure.

Internet Quilt helps to close geographic barriers by encouraging information sharing with international as well as national women seeking shared solutions to common challenges.

Woman 2 Woman an annual conference that addresses and disseminates information regarding reproductive issues and the status of HIV/AIDS and other Sexually Transmitted Diseases in our community.
